La Belle Vie en France

Our journey into purchasing and rennovating our fermette in the South West of France

After what seemed an eternity in self-isolation after returning to the UK from our holiday in August, we finally made it out the other side safe and sound.  Whilst isolating, we managed to go through some major life changes in the process, we sold our house and retired from work.

What does that all mean for us? Well, we are now set up in our French house after a long drive down the night before we completed the sale of our house. Mandy pointed out that the day we left the UK was 2 years to the day since we come back from our first holiday in the French house. We are also now retired and enjoying the slower pace of life that this will bring.

Has it sunk in yet that we have finally made it and now living in France? The short answer is no, it just felt like we were going back to the house for another holiday, despite the van being packed to the roof and only the driver having any space. I am sure in a few weeks it will sink in especially when we don’t have to go back or start counting down the days to the return ferry.

So, for now it’s time to hang up the keyboard, sit back, relax and have another glass of red wine.
